The Academy offers a range of nationally recognised training courses from Certificate II, Certificate III, Certificate IV through to Diploma of Hairdressing Salon Management.

  • Cert II
    • This is your introduction to the Hairdressing industry, it is an entry level course with minimul to no prerequsites;
    • Course Duration is approximately 4-6 months full-time study
    • Course outline; 13 Units of competency for successful completion
    • 10 Core Units
    • 3 Elective Units (see following page for Units of Competency)    
  • Cert III
    • Senior Stylist Qualifications, In salon, Cruise liners, Movie sets, Runway/Photoshoots
    • Trade Level Qualification (minimum requirment)
    • Course duration is approximately 12 months full-time study (see also fast track study options)
    • Course outline; 29 Units of competency for successful completion

  • Cert IV
    • Salon supervisors, Platform Artist, Artistic directors, Technical Advisors, Team leaders, In salon trainers, Session Stylist
    • Trade Level Qualification with additional training in high fashion, editorial hairdressing

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Australian Visa Requirements

All students intending to enter Australia to study on a full-time basis (except students from New Zealand) must first obtain a Student Visa.

English Language Entry Requirements

English language requirements are required to fulfilled. The following three options show the different ways you can meet these requirements.

1. IELTS (International English Language Testing System)

International students intending to study at Spark Hairdressing Academy are required to achieve a minimum IELTS score of 5.5. The academic test is required (not general training).

2. TOEFL

Students from approved countries may achieve an equivalent score from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). (Score of 525 paper-based or 195 internet based)

3. Previous Study Abroad

You may provide evidence that you have studied in English for at least 5 years in one or more of the following countries:

  • Australia
  • New Zealand
  • United Kingdom
  • Canada
  • United States of America
  • South Africa
  • The Republic of Ireland 

Academic Entry Requirements

Depending upon your Country Assessment Level, successful completion of high school years 10 to 12 or recognised school equivalence.

  • Mature age students may be eligible for special entry without meeting the formal academic requirements.

Students must be 18 years or older prior to commencing study at the academy.

Health Insurance Requirements

The Australian Government requires that students studying in Australia on a Student Visa take out Overseas Student Health Cover. This can be arranged on the Student’s behalf by either their migration agent or the Academy.
